 1-18-2004 This site is now hosted by HostRocket.com. It took me months to decide which hosting company to choose. I was really looking for more capability than what my ISP could provide, and for a minimal fee, HostRocket seemed to be the best place. So far, things have continued to be fantastic. Anyway, for about $14/month, HostRocket provides an amateur user just about everything one would ever need. I couldn't find anyone close in value. At this point I highly recommend them. Here is just a bit of what they offer. I suggest visiting their site: http://www.hostrocket.com. Serious Memory and Bandwidth - 1GB storage and tons of bandwidth. Just plain smokin'. Database features using MySQL - I can't wait to try this out. I'd like to convert some of my web pages to databases to make upkeep simpler. Anonymous FTP - Hey, did you know that I can allow you to upload files to my site? SubDomain Creation - For my family, I could share my space and provide sub-domains like: whateveryouwant.valkos.net. They could then upload their website via a personal FTP account. Control over email - Hey, now I can set up email forwarding, auto-responders, email accounts, spam blocking, form email, and a catch-all email account. One advantage I'll surely use email forwarding. My whole family can now have a permanent email address: e.g. whateveryouwant@valkos.net Site Statistics - Uh oh, you visited this page. I know you did. I can tell in my stat log. Chat Room - Haven't really tried this yet. It looks a little harder to use than ICQ but it can't be that hard. Tons of other stuff - Real Media Capability, SSH Telnet access, CGI scripts, Crontab, Custom Error Pages, Shopping Cart capability, and auto Search Engine Submission. EDSON.NET
